Write to me,
I read every message myself.

If you're living with Hidradenitis Suppurativa and need to share what you're going through, you can write to me here. I reply as soon as I can, with the care and attention I wish I had received too.

I'd also really love to hear your story. My aim is to give a voice to more people living with acne inversa and bring their experiences together.

A note from me

I'm not a doctor, and I can't replace advice from a qualified medical professional. What I can do is listen, share what remission has looked like for me, and point you toward the resources that helped me.

Want to connect with other people living with HS?

Everyone who gets the book receives free lifetime access to a private members community. It is a place where people living with Hidradenitis Suppurativa can share their progress, talk openly about flares, lumps, boils and abscesses, and support one another. A nutrition professional also shares general educational guidance in the community, not individual medical advice or personalised diet plans.

Before you write

Can I ask you for medical advice?

No. I'm not a doctor, so I can't advise you on diagnosis, medication or treatment. What I can do is share my personal experience and point you toward the blog articles where I've collected the sources. Talk to your doctor or dermatologist before making any treatment decisions.

How long will it take to get a reply?

I read every message myself, so I usually reply within a few days. If you haven't heard back within a week, feel free to write again. Sometimes messages end up in spam.

Can I share something very personal with you?

Yes. It stays between us, and I won't publish anything without your explicit consent. If you'd like to share your story on the blog or in the private community, anonymously if you prefer, mention it in your message and we can talk about it.

Does the AIP protocol work for everyone?

No protocol works for everyone, and I'm wary of anyone who promises otherwise. There is some early evidence: in a pilot study of people with inflammatory bowel disease, 73% achieved clinical remission after 6 weeks on the AIP protocol (Konijeti et al., 2017). Small studies in other autoimmune conditions have reported improvements in symptoms and inflammatory markers. No studies have yet specifically tested HS and similar exclusion diets. However, many people around the world have shared personal accounts of achieving remission for themselves after adopting similar protocols. These findings and experiences are a signal, not a promise. Every person is different, and any major change should be planned with a qualified professional. You'll find the full sources in the book.

Can you help me or send me your diet?

I'm sorry, but I'm not qualified to do that. Please speak to a qualified nutrition professional, ideally someone with experience supporting people with autoimmune conditions, who can advise you safely.

Can you recommend a nutrition professional with experience in autoimmune conditions?

Giuseppe Silvestro is a nutrition professional who also lives with HS. Inside the private community that comes free with the book, he shares general educational guidance. This is not a medical consultation, and he does not provide personalised diet plans there.

Can you recommend a dermatologist?

Look for a dermatologist in your area who specialises in autoimmune and inflammatory skin conditions, and check that they are familiar with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS).
